total and permanent disability income protection

Check Your Super for Insurance

Total and Permanent Disability claims (TPD claims) can be made under insurance policies that are commonly paid for by your superannuation. You may have TPD insurance without realising it. To find out, check a recent superannuation statement to see if you are paying fees for insurance premiums.

Every TPD Policy is Different

TPD claims are based on private insurance contracts, so the rules for each claim depend on the wording of the policy you signed up for. To qualify for the TPD payout there is commonly a test involving either an inability to work without substantial retraining or serious limitations with your ability to care for yourself at home with domestic tasks. Some injured or disabled persons would qualify for the payout under one insurer’s policy but not under another’s policy.

Know the Rules Before You Start

It is essential to know exactly what the rules are for your TPD claim before you start, so that you know what you need to prove and the chances for success. The only way to find out the rules is to read the entire insurance policy including it’s technical word definitions. We can check your super for free by obtaining a copy of the policy to advise you where you stand and what you could claim.

No Win No Fee

We conduct TPD claims on a no win no fee basis, but because each claim is subject to an insurance policy that has its own rules, we add a fixed fee limit as well for our work up to the point the insurer accepts or rejects your claim so you know exactly what our fees will cost if it is successful. In some cases, an insurer will reject a valid claim and it may be necessary to pursue an avenue of complaint or take the claim to Court. We can usually give a reliable estimate about chances of success very early on in the process and sometimes even during our first conversation. Even if you believe you have a clear cut case and should be entitled to a TPD payout, having us check your policy and give you a fixed fee quote will not cost you anything and will either give you peace of mind or alert you to a risk you may need legal assistance to deal with.
